One of the components of the project is to enhance farmers’ resilience to weather variability through better agromet advisories to the farmer collectives in the pilot districts of Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh, Buldhana in Maharashtra and Vijayapura in Karnataka. Topics for the agromet advisories included information on past five-days weather, likely weather for the next five days (based on the block level weather forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department) and suitable crop management options. Twelve advisories were prepared in Marathi and Kannada languages with the help of concerned Nodal Officers at the PDKVV, Akola and at the RARS Vijayapura under UAS Dharwad. By conducting farmers’ meetings, Monsoon Mission Project has enhanced climate awareness among farmers in nine pilot villages in Anantapur and Kurnool districts in Andhra Pradesh and four pilot villages in Tumakuru district in Karnataka. Based on the monsoon mission weather forecasts, agromet advisories were prepared in both English and Local Language (Telugu / Kannada) and disseminated as SMS. In the Kharif groundnut season 2019, about 118 advisories were disseminated to 650 farmers and 25 agricultural officers.
